Locker stash was thrilled to present The CRFU and Trelawny’s Army with a cheque for £120. This had come from recycling and re-homing pre-loved, unwanted county rugby shirts to players and fans across this country and the world.
Locker stash CIC are a not-for-profit organisation who work up and down the country with sports clubs, working to make them more environmentally friendly by recycling their old unwanted sports kit, finding it new loving homes or repurposing and reinvesting all profits back into grassroots sports and community-based causes.
The county signed up to our partnership back in July of this year, and kicked the relationship off by giving sets of old shirts, both parties hope this will be the first of many recycling ventures the 2 organisations do together, raising funds for clubs and age groups across Cornwall. The profits from these were presented to Trelawny’s Army Secretary Ian Gordon by Locker stash representative Guy Hamer

Cornwall Under 20s team building day
Over 50 players assembled at Truro RFC last Sunday as the Cornwall Under 20 squad launched their preparations for this season’s Jason Leonard Cup campaign that will commence in January.
Everyone was welcomed by CRFU Chairman Dave Saunter.
Once again Tyler Gendall and Richie Kevern head up the coaching staff with Adam Kevern assisting.

Part of the day was given to the President’s Challenge, team manager Colin Hatch takes up the story. “

As part of the 150 anniversary of the RFU, both the RFU President and our own President John Sumnall challenged individuals and teams to raise money for the Injured Players Foundation with the theme of “150”.
He added. “50+ players attended and each completed 3 laps of the Truro pitch making a total of 150 laps completed. All of the players and the back room staff were also required to donate 100 pennies this was then enhanced so that for every 100 pennies a further 50 pennies was donated making a total of 150 form everybody attending. The total raised was £100 pounds for the injured players foundation which is an excellent commitment from these young players.
“Thanks to one and all for participating”.
The squad will now meet up on a regular basis with a couple of warm up games programmed ahead of the championship.

Handling a positive coronavirus test
Following consultation with Public Health England, the RFU have produced overview guidance which explains the actions required by a club following a positive COVID-19 test. There is also extended guidance available for clubs who have a confirmed COVID-19 test case.
The RFU request that clubs submit notification of all positives tests with in a club (including retrospective cases). This information is requested to allow the RFU to monitor the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 test occurring in clubs and ensure the club has the appropriate support.
Clubs can do this by filling out the Positive Test Notification Form.
Former international referee Lawrie Prideaux gets his referee’s cap.

Lawrie received his cap from RFU President, His Honour Jeff Blackett.

Roles to be filled for both Under 18 & Under 15 County Girls teams
Team Managers, First Aiders & Coaches… Your Duchy Needs You!It’s been (too long) a while since the girls got to put on the Black and Gold, but not for much longer.
Trials are coming in February, the U18s matches start at the end of March and the U15s get their turn in May.
We’re looking for new team managers for both U18s and U15s to help organise the campaigns and support the girls, plus first aiders to help at training and on match-days. This year’s matches can’t occur without YOU!We also want to add to the coaching team, with an important change from previous years. We’re looking to add specialist coaches to work alongside the head coaches of both age groups, some of whom need not attend at the festivals, just training sessions.
So whether you’re defence-minded or you think attack is the best form of it, forward-thinking or backs-oriented, or just like teaching players how to kick the ball away (!) then there may be a place for you on the team. We’re also looking for fresh faces too: county campaigns aren’t just a development opportunity for the girls! So please get in touch: send Ross an email at womensandgirls@crfu.co.uk to show your interest
DBS checks will be required.
